The Minnesota Timberwolves and Clear
Channel Radio announced plans to broadcast three of the team's remaining
games in Spanish.
The games, which
will be held on Sundays March 14, March 21 and April 4, will be
the first-ever Wolves-originated Spanish broadcasts.
San Antonio-based
Clear Channel owns the team's flagship broadcasting partner, KFAN-AM
1130. The games will be broadcast on its sister station, KFXN-AM
690, also owned by Clear Channel.
As part of
the announcement, which was held at the Me Gusta Place Restaurant
in South Minneapolis, the organizations donated $2,000 to GoLatino!,
an organization partnering with the Timberwolves to develop basketball
programs in the Latino community.
The Timberwolves
have made marketing to the Latino population a priority this season.
It has hosted two Latino-themed games with entertainment, including
Spanish announcers and mariachi bands. Wolves forward Mark Madsen
also hosted a Spanish speaking question-and-answer session after
one game. |
