Sometimes emotions can flare in close games and that's what happened in tonights game against the Detroit Pistons at home.  Right now I am in pain because Kevin Garnett got ejected and there is some speculation that the league might come forward with a disciplinary action for those of us involved.  I still have not seen a replay of the incident and I didn't see the first part of the tussle because I had my back turned while I was getting up.

When you get a group of 6'10" 260 pound grown men competing hard in games emotions and testosterone can run high with all of us.  We were all out there competing and it got a little bit physical and then it was over. It doesn't make any of it right, but that is the reality of the situation.   I am hoping that the NBA chooses to issue fines as a form of discipline for those of us involved instead of any sort of suspensions for the players.  KG is the spoon that stirs the pot for our team and Antonio McDyess is an important piece for the Pistons and has been ever since he arrived.  I don't think tonight's incident was a fight and in my mind, being ejected is punishment enough in terms of lost minutes.  Both KG and Antonio McDyess are class guys and in my mind this incident is over.

All of that is out of our control though now, and I think we are all moving on and using the "water under the bridge" expression.  I did want to convey to all of you the feeling in our huddle when we knew that we had lost our leader KG for the rest of the game after he got ejected.  Everyone that stepped onto the court knew that each had to raise the level of their play to an even higher level.  We wanted to win that game badly for Kevin.  Mike James and Randy Foye carried us and then we jumped on Mark Blount's back who had a monster night on the boards and in terms of his offense.

Lastly, after the game the media was asking us all about Ricky Davis.  Let me put this issue to rest.  There are no issues with Ricky Davis or any sort of incident that is being speculated upon.  Rick is a great teammate and a great player and even though he didn't have his best shooting night, he did a lot of the little things that don't show up on the stat sheet. He was out there cheering everyone on and giving us feedback when the game was on the line.

Mark,

Some of us there, sitting feet away from the bench saw quite a lot from Ricky that was note-worthy. Now, I like Ricky quite a lot, but last night was inexcusable.

Minneapolis, MN - January 18, 2007 - Most headlines today will have to do with Kevin Garnett being ejected from last night’s game against the Pistons. One cannot blame Garnett for the motivation for his actions by sticking up for teammate Mark Madsen, Garnett did indeed let his team down by getting into an altercation with Antonio McDyess and getting himself tossed from the game. Although that is certainly news worthy, it is not the most important occurrence for the Timberwolves.

Way to play tough. Sorry you all lost! I was wishing the cameras for tv could show KG in the locker room at the end of the first OT. I know he was proud and that likewise he was feeling bad for (to an extent) letting you down by not being on the floor to help close it out. Hopefully the league will be cool.

Watching the game, it looked like a pretty cheap shot you got hit with. And KG was stepping up for his teammates. It is tough to keep tempers under wraps when, as you said, you've got big guys and great athletes competing against each other.

Keep up the good work, on the court, and on this blog. We love reading updates from you, and are impressed you take the time and make the effort to update the blog regularly.

Just wanted to let you know the ESPN announcers spent a few minutes talking about what a stand-up guy you are and how you're the hardest working guy on the court. They even mentioned this site, saying you have one of the best websites amongst all the NBA players.

Mark-

It looked like, from the replays I saw, that KG was trying to awing punches. I was glad that he only got 1 game, and not more.

Good hustle last night at the game against the Jazz. You helped spark the attempted comeback.

Too bad we didn't really get a chance to visit. Maybe when you come back to town in March.

Hey Mark,

I just wanted to say how classy a guy YOU are to give props to the guy that took (what appeared to me to be) a cheap shot at you. I don't commend KG's behavior, but if you're going to get in an altercation, what better reason than standing up for your teammate? It was a truly exciting game and I was happy I had a chance to be there to see it. Best of luck on the road trip, we can't wait to come to another game!

DO you feel like there is a contract on you sometimes? Between the Pistons incident and Boozer what is up? Love your blog - you are one of my favorite players because of your ATTITUDE!!! Last nights loss was a bummer but it was a pretty good game. Get the next one and come home ready to kick butt. Can't wait for Monday.
