Double OT loss to Celtics
We are struggling right now plain and simple. Our trainer Gregg Farnam had me stay at home so I was not at Boston for the game. Gregg wanted me to get a lot of treatment for my injured ankle so that hopefully i can get back to playing this week. I am actually dying to be ready for the Lakers game. It's always great playing against Phil Jackson and Kobe.
I was lucky to have TV's in our training room and weight room, so while I was doing all of the rehab in the Target Center with our assistant trainer, I watched as much of the game as I could. Troy Hudson, Garnett and Ricky Davis all hit huge three pointers for us. But it was really Troy who gave us a huge spark. Troy has always had big games against the Lakers, so I'm thinking he'll probably start again on Tuesday when L.A. comes to the Twin Cities.
Having a sprained ankle is brutal. You sit there and basically work out for hours each day doing ankle drills, stationary bike and the Eliptical Machine. Then you try to freeze your foot (not really, but it just feels like it) with ice for 20 minutes to get the swelling out. I REALLy am hoping to be back soon. Man, I neglected this blog for a little while because I was so busy with ankle stuff, but I'll be writing more stuff soon.
My old teammate Ervin Johnson used to say "365 days is too long not to laugh." I know we're losing, but I'm going to try to use some humor in the locker room to get us more loose and back on track. I'm going to share some stuff on this blog too that has happened in the locker room in the last few months that's pretty funny too. Have a great Monday !!!

Hey Mark,
I just wanted to let you know you've got friends out here who are rooting for you. I blew out my ankle pretty good after the mission after I had gotten in in great basketball shape again. I thought of trying to walk on at KU at the time, so it was crushign for me. I am sure the process is a lot more scientific to recuperate from an ankle injury in the NBA, but I can relate with the eagerness and wanting to get back out on the floor while physically being unable. Good luck, brother, and take care.

It's good to hear that your ankle is healing. I'm at most home games, and I was at the game when you injured yourself. My 6-year-old cousin (sitting next to me at the time) said it best: "Ooh... that looked like it hurt ALOT! He's gonna need some prayers for that one." I laughed and told him: "We can do that. And he's got some of the best trainers that will help him get better real fast."
Know that we're here, rooting for your quick recovery. Can't wait till you play again!

I'm happy to hear your ankles are healed now. I have always been feeling depressed about the wolves standings. The opposition always gets career-high or season-high against wolves. Even though we have had some big shots and some great moments (e.g. KG's three point shot), we just simply can't win. That's very sad to me. Hopefully you guys can get a way to sort it out. I believe you can!!

Mark,
I know this is an old entry for you on your blog, so you might not even check it. I couldn't help but notice you were talking about an ankle injury that you were doing some PT for.
Not to say that your trainers aren't professional and well-trained; I'm sure they are in their current position, but there's no reason you should be out for ANY games with a sprained ankle, unless you've absolutely shredded your ankle ligaments or fractured a bone.
This isn't an advertisement; get a doc who knows something called the "Fascial Distortion Model" (FDM) around. Ankle sprains are gone in one treatment. No need to do silly exercises like alphabets or elliptical machines or that kind of nonsense. Fix and forget.
If you're ever interested in giving it a try, I'll try and get in touch with a doc that can help you out with ANY sort of injury that occurs on the court with this stuff.
Good luck,
Travis

I hope you're better now. It's hard to see how you colleagues are playing and you can't do it. I hope you're better now.

Alcohol is by far one of the most dangerous long term drugs available even to teenagers.
